The Garden Study Club of Hinsdale began when daughters of members of the Hinsdale Garden Club founded their own club, called the Junior Garden Club of Hinsdale, on February 29, 1929.  In 1933 the name was changed to The Garden Study Club of Hinsdale.  From its inception the club has been committed to beautification of the Village of Hinsdale.  The objectives of the club are:
* To increase the knowledge and love of gardening among its members.
* To stimulate interest in creating design with plant material.
* To aid in the protection of native trees, plants and birds.
* To encourage civic planting.
In addition to our monthly meetings, our members contribute their time to the care and maintenance of the Victorian Kitchen Garden at the Hinsdale History Museum.  We also hold a yearly Plant Sale the day before Mother's Day in May at the Hinsdale History Museum, and in November we build a 10-foot wreath that is hung on the Graue Mill through the holiday season, as well as other projects.
Meetings are generally held on the third or fourth Monday of each month, September through June. Each meeting consists of a light lunch followed by a speaker or demonstration and occasionally an off-site tour. If you'd like to attend a meeting, please contact our Membership Vice President.
